I love you, California
Is this not the cutest bear holding California you’ve ever seen??
Writing “I love you, California coast” in my last post made me remember a song I had heard a long time ago called “I love you, California”. Apparently it’s our state song…I hate no idea! The lyrics are really beautiful and perfectly illustrate why California is the best state evvver. I...
Tides
So yesterday’s low tides were perfectly scheduled for 3pm. Thanks Mr. TideLord. I usually (like once every 5 years lol) go to The Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach but this time we decided to try a new place in Princeton…turned out to be a great idea!
We saw some AWESOME stuff!! Like a 22 legged sunflower starfish…didn’t get a good picture of that one :( and like a...
You piss me off!
I’ve sat here and tried to figure out if my feelings of hate toward Peta are justified. I’m leaning toward yes, they are justified. Peta does some good, I’ll admit that. But any organization that spends their money on crappy campaigns like this deserves to be hated by me. p.s. I’m not some weirdo anti-vegetarian. Accusing parents of child abuse because they feed their...

Global Sociology - B
Family, Kin, and Community - A
Sociological Analysis - A
Social Science Core II - B
I somehow came out of last semester with nothing lower than a B. That’s GOOD!!
I hate people
like this…
I look at this picture and read this quote and just hope/pray (and whatever else works) that this little girl has someone in her life that will help steer her away from turning out anything like her mother.

papers. grades still to come.
I wrote a lot this semester and would really like to keep track of all of these papers. What better place than my lovely little blog?
Child Rearing in Kibbutzim between the 1930s and 1980s. For an anthropology class.
Women of the Yao and Masai Cultures. For the same anthropology class. (Grade: A. woohoo)

Oh Ryan Ryan Ryan.
Ryan Gosling may not be vegetarian, but that’s not stopping him from ruffling feathers at McDonald’s over the company’s outdated chicken-slaughter practices. The 29-year-old Canadian actor has just fired off a letter on behalf of PETA to McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner. Check it:
“Dear Mr. Skinner, I was shocked to learn from my friends at PETA that McDonald’s, a company that...
damn look at these shoes!
So the CASA office got a huge donation of fully built Build a Bears. The bears were built to be donated to the foster children who are served through San Mateo CASA. Ideally the foster kids would be brought into the office to pick out a bear but because of scheduling conflicts I was unable to bring my kid in to pick out her bear. Soooo, I went in to pick two out, one for her and one for her...

This is so cute!!

So first it was the Magnums and now this!
When I first got to Holland people used to have to drive to Belgium to buy this stuff. By the time I was stocking up on stuff to bring home I found it at Super De Boer (grocery store across town that I didn’t normally shop at) and now you can get a generic brand of it in California! What the ef man!? lol.
Can someone tell me where I can find...
runaways and homeless dogs
My mom called me today to tell me that a Chihuahua had followed her and Cash home. Later after she had called me she went knocking on a bunch of doors and finally found its home. Yay! I have an aversion to Chihuahuas.
Here’s Cash (not a Chihuahua) with his new haircut. This was taken right after he rough-housed for about 20 minutes. He was pooped!

thoughts
I’ve been trying to formulate my thoughts and opinions on two subjects.
1. The occupy movement. We talk about it all day in class and then I come home and see everyone complaining about it online. I have an opinion just need to figure out how to word it…not that it really matters what my opinion is but this is my blog so I guess this is the best place for it.
2. When people say...
10 things I hate about you.
you’re ugly
you’re stupid
Just kidding. I just love 10 Things I Hate About You and this picture…
a few good things.
I’m obsessed with American Horror Story. There, I admitted it. I’ve been trying to figure out who the rubber man is and if Violet is dead or alive. I NEED to know NOW.
And even less surprising…I’m going to see Twilight tonight! Yes, that means I will be waiting in line surrounded by a billion young teens who will probably be debating if Bella should actually be sticking...

1. You’re in the far left lane (fast lane) on 280 going 70 miles per hour when Chelsea comes up behing you. It’s obvious to you that she would like to go a bit faster than you are going. What do you do?
a) stay where you are, you’re going fast enough and Chelsea needs to just deal with it and/or pass you on the right.
b) move over, the fast lane is for whoever wants to go...
Because I should be writing (another) paper...
I’d like to let everyone know that I saw Julia Roberts and her husband in Half Moon Bay last weekend. I’d like to add that I DID NOT run up to her, ask her for her autograph, take pictures, or anything like that. This aint 10 years ago and she is definitely not Green Day…duuuuh! But a few minutes after I walked past her she walked into the cooking store (yes, I love food and...

Tamale Basket for Mayan Families.
The organization I sponsor Dina through is collecting donations for Christmas Tamale Baskets. Many families that are involved with this organization do not have sponsors and may not have any food for their Christmas Eve tradition. If you’re looking for a good cause to donate to this holiday season (or purchase in honor of someone you know or would like to buy a gift for) please consider...
"I'll see you in court, buddy!"
I skipped school today to observe a real court hearing. I got to see 10 different cases; 9 dependency and 1 delinquency. It was so fascinating!! but made me realize (again) that I definitely do not want to be a county social worker…or attorney or a judge for that matter. Way too much pressure.
Observing the court today was the last step in my CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)...
My QTpie
Cash got microchipped (BIG needle) and all of his vaccinations yesterday. He’s not feeling too hot but he sure is making up for it by looking super fly. damnboi.
Days 24 through 30. All done!
Day 24 - If you could change your first name, what would you change it to
I used to tell my parents that I was going to change my name to Chelsee when I grew up because so many people mispronounced my name Chel-see-uh. Then I realized that those people were just idiots.
I love the name Evelyn but wouldn’t want to be called that.
Day 25 - Favorite stores to buy clothes from
Target. Duh. I...
The only reason I go to the Pumpkin Festival...
Brussel sprouts, artichoke hearts and green beans. $10. Tastytasty.
Days 17 through 23. Because I am bored.
Day 17 - Favorite genre of movies
hmmm, I LOVE romantic movies like Say Anything and the Notebook. For some reason people think I like romantic comedies. I’ll watch them but they definitely are not my favorite. btw, I love the Hangover. love. I also love horror movies. I like seeing them in the theatre with a group. It’s just more fun that way. I do not like movies like Melancholia....
I have never been so in love before...
It seats 5 adults AND 2 children!! That’s so cool! and it’s ONLY $50,000. Maybe I could get a loan or something? ha.ha.ha. It’s a Tesla = fully electric! I need this.
I’d also be fine with this $300,000+ Aston Martin beauty…
I don’t know how I got on this topic. I’m perfectly happy with my little Toyota but damn I’d just really love to ride in...
Day 9 through 16, to catch up.
Day 09 - Best day of your life
Hmmmmm, I don’t think I’ve lived my best day yet.
Day 10 - Worst day of your life
Same as above.
Day 11 - A sport you love to watch/play
I wouldn’t call myself a big sports fan. I like swimming :) I recently (last few years) started watching baseball and more recently started watching a little football. I also like watching gymnastics and ice...
Day 08 - Worst job you ever had
I babysat ONE day for this family with three little girls and it wins for “worst job you ever had”. It was THAT bad!!
These girls were seriously the closest to devil children I have ever met. At one point one of the girls purposely spilled a huge puddle of paint on the carpeted playroom floor. She proceeded to put her hands in it and use my jeans as a finger painting canvas. This girl...
Day 07 - Best job you ever had
My first nanny job. I watched a little boy named Carl who was 18 months when I started and is like 10 (!) now. He was such a cute, sweet, adventurus little boy. In the few years I watched him he learned soooo much and is still very cute and sweet and smart as hell.
TEN YEARS OLD!! OMG! I must be olllllddd!

Day 06 - Five favorite songs
Off the top of my head…
Runaway Train by Soul Asylum
Hiding My Heart by Adele
Lean On Me by Bill Withers
Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
The Funeral by Band of Horses.
It’s seriously just some weird coincidence that all of these songs seem to be sort of depressing. I’m not even depressed. :/
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass
Bright Eyes. I’ve realized that I really don’t like concerts. Big crowds are just not my thing anymore.

Day 05 - Favorite memory from childhood
Tooshmobile with Steph and my cousin Dustin.
Tooshmobile = sliding down the stairs while sitting/lying in a silky sleeping bag. We even did it head first…with a helmet on of course.
The following picture is NOT of us. I found it online but it’s pretty much what we looked like.
Day 04 - Ten Places you want to visit
Tahiti
Guatemala
Brazil
Haiti
Morocco
Sri Lanka
Australia
Iceland
Uganda
Turkey
I’m excited just thinking about these places. :)
Day 03 - Hometown location and facts
What does “hometown” mean anyway? The place you live now? The place you feel like you “grew up”? The place you lived the longest? I guess I feel like I have two hometowns.
First…
Redwood City, Ca. This is where I remember my childhood and where I started to become the person I am today. I have fond memories of playing in the street (something I rarely see kids do...
Food Stamps
I wonder if I’d qualify.
Anyway, I was browsing the job listing for SM county and somehow found myself on the food stamp info page. I thought this was pretty interesting…
“they may not be traded for money or used to buy non-food items, such as alcohol and tobacco products, pet food, soap, or paper products. They may be used to buy seeds and plants for use in home gardens to...
Day 02 - How you got your tumblr name
I seriously have THE HARDEST TIME coming up with names for things. I HATE how final it is. For this reason I actually worry about the day that I have to name my children.
Anyway…
told u so suckr = addressing the fact that I am occasionally (rarely) correct about some things. It’s kind of a way for me to say “ef u up the a hole, ya dipshit” to any teachers, authority...
Day 01 - Photo of you along with ten facts
I live in Half Moon Bay.
I don’t like being alone often. I’d rather be with my friends or family.
I love frozen yogurt and ice cream very much.
I hate pickles.
Now that I am going to school and not working I am somehow busier than I ever have been.
I will most likely finally be a big sister soon. I believe my mom will be adopting the little pup pictured above.
Now that...
Miss Manners
You wouldn’t know it by looking at me or the way he raised me but my dad loves Miss Manners. He really does. He also loves sending me Miss Manner’s column from the Washington Post. This time it was pretty interesting.
DEAR MISS MANNERS: Can you explain why North Americans use a fork in their right hand and Europeans, from whom many of us descend, always use the left hand?

Day 11!! 10 things you LOVE!
I love a lot of people and animals but since it says “things” I am going to keep people/animals out of this list and just stick to “things”.

school update
First of all, I have chapters and chapter and chapter of reading I should be doing right now but for some reason I’m blogging instead. Not good.
But besides that, school is pretty good. Today I got a quiz back that I did last week in my global sociology class. While taking the quiz I would read each question and just seriously freak out (in my head) because I didn’t feel like I had...
