My name is Chelsea. Contact me here.

Washington DC was awesome. Especially because I was there with my oldest best friend Alysia AKA my Honey Booboo Child.

I love you, California

Is this not the cutest bear holding California you’ve ever seen??

Writing “I love you, California coast” in my last post made me remember a song I had heard a long time ago called “I love you, California”. Apparently it’s our state song…I hate no idea! The lyrics are really beautiful and perfectly illustrate why California is the best state evvver.

I love you, California, you’re the greatest state of all.
I love you in the winter, summer, spring and in the fall.
I love your fertile valleys; your dear mountains I adore.
I love your grand old ocean and I love her rugged shore.

Where the snow crowned Golden Sierras
Keep their watch o’er the valleys bloom,
It is there I would be in our land by the sea,
Every breeze bearing rich perfume.
It is here nature gives of her rarest.
It is Home Sweet Home to me,
And I know when I die I shall breathe my last sigh
For my sunny California.

I love your red-wood forests - love your fields of yellow grain.
I love your summer breezes and I love your winter rain.
I love you, land of flowers; land of honey, fruit and wine.
I love you, California; you have won this heart of mine.

I love your old gray Missions - love your vineyards stretching far.
I love you, California, with your Golden Gate ajar.
I love your purple sun-sets, love your skies of azure blue.
I love you, California; I just can’t help loving you.

I love you, Catalina, you are very dear to me.
I love you, Tamalpais, and I love Yosemite.
I love you, Land of Sunshine, Half your beauties are untold.
I loved you in my childhood, and I’ll love you when I’m old.

Tides

So yesterday’s low tides were perfectly scheduled for 3pm. Thanks Mr. TideLord. I usually (like once every 5 years lol) go to The Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach but this time we decided to try a new place in Princeton…turned out to be a great idea!

We saw some AWESOME stuff!! Like a 22 legged sunflower starfish…didn’t get a good picture of that one :( and like a billion regular old starfish plus so many other cool things. The weather was PERFECT with very little wind and a pleasant temperature. We took ourselves a cute little picnic and had a grand old time.

I love you, California coast!

You piss me off!

I’ve sat here and tried to figure out if my feelings of hate toward Peta are justified. I’m leaning toward yes, they are justified. Peta does some good, I’ll admit that. But any organization that spends their money on crappy campaigns like this deserves to be hated by me.

p.s. I’m not some weirdo anti-vegetarian. Accusing parents of child abuse because they feed their children meat is just going too far. That’s my opinion of course!

If you knew me in high school you’d know why this is a time to celebrate.

I look at this picture and read this quote and just hope/pray (and whatever else works) that this little girl has someone in her life that will help steer her away from turning out anything like her mother.

I wrote a lot this semester and would really like to keep track of all of these papers. What better place than my lovely little blog?

  3. Child Labor on Cocoa Farms in Côte d’Ivoire. Discussing the negative effect child labor has on communities and the environment. For a social science class.

Oh Ryan Ryan Ryan.

Ryan Gosling may not be vegetarian, but that’s not stopping him from ruffling feathers at McDonald’s over the company’s outdated chicken-slaughter practices. The 29-year-old Canadian actor has just fired off a letter on behalf of PETA to McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner. Check it:

“Dear Mr. Skinner, I was shocked to learn from my friends at PETA that McDonald’s, a company that claims to be an industry leader in animal welfare, still allows its suppliers to use an outdated chicken slaughter method that results in broken wings and legs and causes birds to be scalded to death in defeathering tanks.

I just spent about 45 minutes reading sites about animal cruelty. Most interesting were the ones that discussed meat eaters who were against animal cruelty.

In my opinion it’s harder to understand passionate vegetarians who use any kind of animal products. Though I do partly mean dairy, I’m more confused by vegetarians that use leather products of any kind. This is something I’ve been confused about for a while. I’ll have to try to find a wikipedia page on it. lol.

I guess I feel like there are people who are against the TORTURE of animals and then there are people who are against both the TORTURE and KILLING of animals. These second people shouldn’t support any torture or killing of animals, right? And, animals need to be killed to make real leather jackets (or shoes or purses or whatever), right? So how can a vegetarian that is against killing animals to eat them be ok with killing animals to wear them?

P.S. I am a meat eater who is also against animal cruelty. I also love Ryan Gosling.
